มีคนเคยถามว่าทำไมถึงชอบถ่ายภาพขาวดำ? ถ้าจำไม่ผิดสิ่งที่ผมตอบไปเพราะรูปขาวดำมีการสื่อสารที่ดีกว่า บางทีคำตอบที่ผมให้ไปตอนนั้นอาจจะไม่กระจ่างนัก รูปถ่ายนั้นเมื่อมีองค์ประกอบของสีเข้ามาแล้ว จะเพิ่มข้อมูลที่จะสื่อให้ผู้ชมนั้นรับรู้มากขึ้นเช่น คนนั้นใส่เสื้อขาว ทาปากสีแดง, เก้าอี้สีเหลือง, ป้ายโฆษณาสีฟ้า ฯลฯ
แต่หากข้อมูลสีพวกนี้ขาดหายไป ไม่หรอกครับมันไม่ได้ทำให้รูปจืดชิดไปหรอก หากแต่เราจะสามารถมองเห็นลึกลงไปถึงอีกหลายๆสิ่ง ที่ถูกสีบดบังไว้ต่างหาก
Someone once asked me, 'Why do you like to take Black & White? If memory serves me right my answer was
because Black & White communicates better. Perhaps my answer was too blunt and unclear.
When a photo has color, information regarding color has given the audience a better understanding of what those things are e.g. women in white blouse wearing red lipstick, a yellow chair, a blue advertisement billboard etc.
If in any cirumstance should these information were missing, well... it won't become a dull picture, on the contrary we will be able to go deeper and discover many things that was well hidden under those colors.
ที่จะเห็นได้ชัดคือรูปจำพวก Portrait (Portrait ไม่จำเป็นต้องแนวตั้งเสมอไปนะครับ ตราบใดที่มันสื่อถึงอารมณ์และความรู้สึกของบุคคลที่รูปจะถ่ายทอดออกมา)
